You are an Onmyoji. Over three nights, defeat the Yokai that appear on the night road. Turn each defeated Yokai into a Shikigami to use its ability, or into an Equip to raise your ATK, DEF and SPL. After the three nights, face the Final Battle.
Duel 2 players. In the Final Battle, the two Onmyoji fight each other.
Co-op 2 players. In the Final Battle, you face the Boss together.
Solo 1 player. In the Final Battle, you face the Boss alone.
Sections 1–11 apply to every mode. For the Final Battle, read the section for your mode: Duel, Co-op or Solo.

2Reading a card
ATK: damage of your Attack.
DEF: reduces the damage you take in one turn by this much in total.
SPL: damage of your Spell.
HP: you fall at 0. You can heal up to 20.
Yokai cards use the same icons. Their HP and DEF are at the bottom right.
3Setup (2 players)
Lv1 YokaiLv2 YokaiLv3 YokaiYokai HP cardLeft player: Kuzunoha, HP 12Right player: Doman, HP 13
Choose Duel or Co-op. The 2 players sit side by side. Where you sit now decides who is the left player and the right player for Yokai attacks.
Each player chooses 1 Character and slides an Onmyoji HP card behind it. The lowest visible number is your current HP. When your HP drops to 10 or below, flip the HP card.
Each player takes the 3 action cards (Attack, Guard, Spell) as their hand.
Sort the Yokai into Lv1, Lv2 and Lv3 piles. Each time you bring out a Yokai, pick one at random from the remaining cards of that Lv. Draw without looking, or roll a die.
The player with lower HP goes first. If tied, the left player goes first.

Final Battle
Lv1 ×2 battles
Lv2 ×2 battles
Lv3 ×2 battles
Depends on mode
In each battle, bring out 2 Yokai of that night's Lv, place them left and right, and fight until both are defeated. Slide a Yokai HP card behind each Yokai and count its HP the same way as an Onmyoji.
At the start of each battle, each player returns their hand to 3 cards. Onmyoji HP does not recover after a battle.
5Action cards
Attack: deal damage equal to your ATK to 1 enemy. The enemy's DEF reduces this damage. You may use the effects of your left Equips.
Guard: this turn, you take no damage and no enemy action affects you. You may use the effects of your right Equips.
Spell: deal damage equal to your SPL to 1 enemy. The enemy's DEF does not reduce this damage. You may use the effects of your bottom Equips.
6Turn order
Start of turn: starting with the first player, use "Start of turn" abilities.
Play cards: both players play 1 card from hand face down, then reveal them at the same time.
Guard step: players who played Guard act, first player first.
Attack/Spell step: players who played Attack or Spell act, first player first. A player with an effect that lets them act before the other player acts first.
Yokai actions: the right Yokai acts, then the left Yokai.
End of turn: a player with 0 cards in hand returns all used action cards to their hand. If all Yokai are defeated, you win the battle. If all Onmyoji have fallen, you lose.
On your action (your turn in steps 3 and 4)
Declare "On your action" abilities, and evolve.
Resolve the card you played.
Place the card face up in front of you as Used.
Within the same step, the first player goes first.
7Yokai actions
Each Yokai takes 1 action per turn, in the order ①②③, and goes back to ① on turn 4. The order moves on even on a turn when the Yokai was stopped and did not act. A Yokai that says "from turn 3, ③ every turn" keeps doing ③.

Damage marked (ignores DEF) is not reduced by DEF. If the targeted player has fallen, the surviving player takes it instead.
"When no other Yokai is left" applies on every turn in which that Yokai is the only one still alive.
8After a battle
The player who finished off the second Yokai picks 1 of the 2 defeated Yokai first. The other player takes the remaining one.
Each player immediately decides whether the Yokai they took becomes a Shikigami or an Equip. You cannot change this later.
The player who took a Yokai second is the first player in the next battle.
9Shikigami and Equips
Shikigami: place it beside your Character and use the ability in the middle of the card. Use it at the timing written on it, such as [On your action], up to the limit written on it, such as "N/battle". The same ability can be used at most once per turn. After you use a "1/game" ability, flip the card so the Yokai side faces up. It is still a Shikigami.
Equip: slide it behind your Character so that only one edge shows. Left edge = Attack Equip, right edge = Guard Equip, bottom edge = Spell Equip. A number with no condition, such as ATK +2, always applies. Other effects can be used only on a turn when you play the action card that matches that edge, in any order you like. You can stack as many Equips as you want.
10Evolution
On your action, choose Shikigami whose Lv adds up to 5 or more, put them under your Character, and flip your Character over. Seimei and Kuzunoha need only 3 or more. Your HP heals up to the number on the back side. Your Equips and remaining Shikigami stay. You can evolve once per game.
11Boss battle (Co-op and Solo)
Flip 1 Yokai HP card to bring out the Boss. First, bring out 1 random Yokai from the remaining Lv3 and place it to the right of the Boss as a minion. While the minion is alive, the Boss takes no damage.
The Boss acts from ① in order. Once it reaches its last action, it repeats that action every turn.
Count the Boss's HP by going around the Yokai HP card from 12 down to 1 as many times as needed. After you defeat the minion, slide its Yokai HP card behind the Boss and start counting from 12. Damage that goes below 0 carries over to 12 of the next round. Keep track of how many rounds you have gone through.
決Duel
2 players. In the Final Battle, the two Onmyoji fight each other.
In the Final Battle, treat the other Onmyoji the same way as a Yokai, except that they do not take Yokai actions. "1 enemy" and "all enemies" on cards mean the other Onmyoji. Text marked "(Duel: …)" is used in this Final Battle.
The first player to bring the other's HP to 0 wins. If both reach 0 on the same turn, the first player wins.
If one player falls during the three nights, the other player fights on alone and takes only 1 of the 2 defeated Yokai. If only one player is alive after Night 3, that player wins. If both fall, both lose.
協Co-op
2 players. The Final Battle is the Boss battle (section 11). Choose a difficulty from Lv1 to Lv10.
You clear the game if both of you survive and defeat the Boss. If either of you falls at any time, including during the three nights, you lose immediately.

Boss boost
Every number in the Boss's actions is +2.
+1 when no other Yokai
While only 1 Yokai is left, its damage is +1. This also applies to the Boss after its minion is defeated.
Enemy damage +1
All damage from Yokai and the Boss is +1.
Boss damage +N
The Boss's damage is a further +N.
独Solo
1 player. The Final Battle is the Boss battle (section 11). Choose a difficulty from Lv1 to Lv10.
Choose 1 Character and start with the Starting HP in the table below.
Choose any 1 Yokai of the Starting Shikigami Lv in the table and make it a Shikigami or an Equip.
Shuffle the 3 action cards of the unused second player face down. These are the Yokai deck.
In each night, bring out 1 Yokai in the first battle and 2 in the second battle. Take only 1 of the defeated Yokai.
Treat yourself as the first player and the left player. You take only the Yokai actions aimed at "Both" and the ones aimed at the targets listed in the table's "Actions you take" column.
Yokai deck: while only 1 Yokai is out, flip 1 card every turn after you choose your card, and place it in front of that Yokai. Shuffle the 3 cards again when all 3 have been flipped and at the start of each battle. Do not flip during the Boss battle.
Guard: that Yokai takes no damage and does not act this turn. It takes this turn's action next turn.
Spell: its action ignores DEF.
Attack: nothing happens.
